HI, my name is Cami. My love of jewelry has developed into a passion for designing and creating artistic pieces that make a bold, individual statement for the wearer.
My vision of jewelry is pulled from nature, Russian filigree, Japanese Kanji and architecture. Nature makes such interesting shapes and special effects like druzy. Russian filigree is so feminine with its soft swirls and pristine layout. The Japanese Kanji presents organized lines and graceful curves adding the element of language. The geometric shapes of architecture are simple yet elegant and useful. Ideally each piece should be natural, feminine, and elegant speaking a language the beholder understands. The materials that I favor are gemstones, Swarovski crystals, coral, pearls, shell cameo, 14/20 gold filled wire, gold, brass, copper and sterling silver.
Although mostly self-taught I’ve been influenced and would like to recognize my mentors: Robert Ritz, Preston Ruther, and Margaret Jacinto. Once I obtained the tools and basic techniques, the magic of creation came to life in the materials. Lucky for me, I have a wide range of friends that inspire me to try to make the perfect piece just for them, or try some new ideas they have. This support has widened my approach to design and pushes me to strive for perfection. Quality is important as this is art that is to be worn and must endure every day use.
In addition to wire wrapping, I indulge in lost wax casting and enameling. Both enameling and lost wax castings are individual scientific arts. This opens up a whole new landscape of possibilities for new creations.
Since I believe that jewelry should be shared and enjoyed, I love teaching classes on wire wrapping. The intrigue of wire wrapping is that every piece of jewelry is different. I can show ten people how to do one technique and not one result will be exactly like another. That just makes wire wrapping so much fun!
Some of my signature pieces are: an elegant black pearl and black lip shell cameo necklace, a bold Kanji ring and an intricate cameo and collar necklace for which I received and On My Own Time Award.
